Day 19: How to Make the Last 10 Nights of Ramadaan Count

Sharing is caring!

Ramadaan is a month of blessings, but the last 10 nights? Those are truly golden. It’s during these nights that Laylatul Qadr—the Night of Decree—falls, a night worth more than a thousand months of worship. Yet, with exhaustion setting in and daily responsibilities piling up, how do you make the most of these precious nights? Let’s dive into practical, achievable ways to strengthen your connection with Allah and truly maximise these final days of Ramadaan.

1. Renew Your Intention and Make a Plan

Ramadaan is almost over, but it’s never too late to realign your focus. Take a moment to reflect: What do you want to achieve in these last nights? More Qur’an recitation? More dhikr? Longer, more heartfelt du’as?

Write down your goals, whether it’s praying extra nafl salaah, giving charity, or simply staying away from distractions. A clear plan helps you stay on track and prevents the regret of feeling like you “wasted” these nights.

2. Prioritise Your Salaah – Always!

The last 10 nights are about strengthening your connection with Allah, but that doesn’t mean only at night! Consistency in prayer is key throughout the day and night.

  • Pray all your salaah on time: Every prayer matters – it is the first thing we will be questioned about in the grave.
  • Focus on quality over quantity: Instead of rushing through, slow down, reflect on the meanings, and be present in your prayers.
  • Create a peaceful prayer space at home: Remove distractions and make salaah a beautiful experience.

3. Increase Your Qur’an Recitation

One of the best acts of worship in Ramadaan is reading, understanding, and reflecting on the Qur’an.

  • Set a manageable goal, whether it’s reading a few pages, an entire juz, or even just listening to recitations.
  • Choose a translation if you don’t understand Arabic so you can truly connect with the message.
  • Reflect on the verses and how they apply to your life. Even a single verse can transform your heart if reflected upon sincerely.

4. Seek Laylatul Qadr Every Night

Laylatul Qadr is better than 1,000 months of worship, but we don’t know exactly which night it falls on. The Prophet (SAW) advised us to seek it in the last 10 nights, particularly the odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th).

To make sure you don’t miss out, treat every single night as if it is Laylatul Qadr. Increase your worship, make sincere du’a, and ask Allah for everything you need in this life and the Hereafter.

5. Make Du’a With Sincerity

This is the best time to pour your heart out to Allah. He is listening. He is near. And He loves to answer the du’as of His sincere servants.

  • One of the most powerful du’as the Prophet (SAW) taught for Laylatul Qadr is: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.
(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.)
  • Make a list of personal du’as before the night begins so you don’t forget what you want to ask for.
  • Include du’as for your family, the Ummah, and those who are suffering worldwide.
  • Ask for both dunya and akhirah—good health, halaal provisions, a peaceful heart, and, most importantly, Jannah.

6. Give Charity Every Night

Even if it’s a small amount, giving charity during the last 10 nights ensures that you catch Laylatul Qadr.

  • Automate your donations through apps or set aside money to give each night.
  • Donate to causes that support orphans, the needy, and Islamic education.
  • Remember that even a small act—buying iftaar for someone, helping a family member—is considered charity.

7. Limit Distractions & Social Media

If there’s ever a time to disconnect from the world and connect with your Lord, this is it.

  • Log out of social media (or limit your time significantly).
  • Avoid unnecessary conversations and focus on dhikr and Qur’an.
  • Make your home a peaceful space where your heart can fully engage in worship.

8. Encourage Your Family to Participate

Ramadaan is even more special when your family is involved.

  • Pray together at home if possible.
  • Make dhikr circles where you read Qur’an or discuss beneficial Islamic reminders.
  • If you have children, let them stay up a little later to experience the beauty of these nights.

9. Repent Sincerely & Seek Forgiveness

The last 10 nights are a time for renewal and redemption. None of us are perfect, but Allah’s mercy is limitless. Use these nights to sincerely repent for past mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and make the intention to improve.

10. Strengthen Your Connection with Allah

Above all, these nights are about building a stronger relationship with your Creator. Worship is about love, sincerity, and devotion. The way you spend these nights will shape your heart for the rest of the year.

Final Thoughts

The last 10 nights of Ramadaan are a gift. A chance to draw closer to Allah and leave this month spiritually transformed. Don’t let distractions take this opportunity away from you.
